Special Education Support Sessions Education Support Sessions<p>​The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) will host a series of six information sessions for parents and guardians to learn about special education in the SCDSB, and how to support students with special education needs.<br> The following sessions will be offered:</p><p><strong>November 20, 2017 </strong><br>Individual Education Plan (IEP) Information for Families<br> <strong>December 18, 2017</strong><br> Identification, Placement and Review Committee (IPRC) Information for Families<br> <strong>January 22, 2018</strong><br> Assessments in Special Education: Psych Ed and Other Assessments<br> <strong>February 19, 2018</strong><br> Transition Planning Grade 8 to 9<br> <strong>March 19, 2018</strong><br> Accessing Supports in the Community<br> <strong>April 16, 2018</strong><br> Understanding Alternative/Non-Academic IEP Goals</p><p>"Parents play a critical role in supporting students' success, especially for those with special education needs," says Chris Samis, Superintendent of Program/Special Education. "Being the parent of a child with special education needs can be complicated and confusing. Kiss & Ride Drop-Off Guidelines & Ride Drop-Off Guidelines<p>If you use our 'Kiss & Ride' lane we ask that you adhere to the following guidelines:</p><ul><li>Pull ahead as far as you can in the lane and put car in park</li><li>Students must exit the vehicle on the side closest to the school</li><li>Students must exit the vehicle independently (<strong>drivers must remain in the vehicle</strong>)</li><li>Once students are safely on the sidewalk, drivers leave the parking lot following the signs to ensure a steady flow of traffic</li><li>The goal is to keep the line moving safely and efficiently</li></ul><p>If you need to walk your child to the gate, you must park in the parking lot as drivers must not exit their vehicle when using the convenience of a Kiss & Ride lane.</p><p><strong>Your child's safety is our biggest priority. Thank you for keeping this in mind!</strong></p>
